About the event
Band Bio:
I'm an Akron, OH native born into a musical family. I'm the youngest of three kids and was fully immersed in music at a young age. My brother is an exceptional guitar player and influenced a lot of my playing. My sister was always active in school choir and encouraged me to join. She is now the Choir Director for Mentor City Schools.
Song-Writing: Instruments were always a tool to write songs for me. I have a rather unorthodox style on the guitar. My attack is very percussive and I primarily play claw-hammer/fingerstyle. From a fundamental perspective, my style is heavily influenced by the delta blues and pentatonic scales. I play numerous genres including Folk/Blues/Country/Rock/R&B.
In 2021 Landon Kearns and I founded the band "Rye Valley". This group showcases my original song writing and Kearns' multi-instrumentalism. We released our first full length studio album in 2024.
Sidekicking/Lead-Guitar: Throughout the years I have sidekicked numerous artists on lead guitar primarily for fill-ins and subs. My philosophy with lead-guitar is simple.... less is more. I understand what it's like as a song-writer to be distracted by showboating and noodling. Working heavily with Landon Kearns over the past few years strengthened my awareness and elevated my lead guitar playing.
In Fall of 2023, I became the lead guitar performing artist for Chrissy Strong. Strong's song-writing is rooted in angst piano ballads, impecable vocals, and honest story telling.
In Fall of 2024, I am supporting Clem Snide on a National USA Tour. Rye Valley will be going on the road as the opening act. Additionally, we will be playing as active bandmates while supporting frontman, Eef Barzelay, on a small number of songs.
